A strawberry basil cocktail is a wonderfully refreshing and aromatic drink, featuring the perfect blend of sweet and herbal flavors. It typically combines fresh strawberries and basil leaves with a spirit base, often vodka or gin, to create a vibrant, colorful concoction. The sweetness of ripe strawberries balances beautifully with the slightly peppery, refreshing notes of fresh basil. A dash of simple syrup or agave might be added to enhance the sweetness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice brings a bright acidity, tying all the flavors together. Served chilled and often garnished with a strawberry slice or a sprig of basil, this cocktail is visually appealing and embodies the essence of summer. It's ideal for outdoor gatherings, garden parties, or as a sophisticated dinner party aperitif.

Ingredients: for two cocktails
3 oz of preferred vodka ( I prefer smirnoff or Tito's)
2 oz simple syrup *see note at bottom
2 5 oz cans of ginger beer
2 cups strawberries, chopped
6 basil leaves
Simple Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 basil leaves (optional)
Directions:
Make the simple syrup. In a pot on medium heat add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Mix together on medium heat until sugar dissolves. Set aside, add basil leaves and let cool.
Make strawberry puree by blending strawberries and basil into a blender.
Grab 2 16 oz glass and fill with ice. Then add 1.5 ounces of vodka ( 1 shot each) into each glass. 1 oz of simple syrup into each glass, 1/4 cup puree into each glass and fill the rest of the way to the top with ginger beer. Enjoy!
**NOTE: You don't need to use simple syrup. You could add your desired amount of sugar to puree before blending. You also don't need to use any type of sweetener if that is preferred.
