Basil Beef Cheese Tortellini


Basil beef cheese tortellini is a delightful and savory dish that beautifully combines the rich flavors of seasoned ground beef, fresh basil, and creamy cheese-filled tortellini. Each bite offers a harmonious blend of textures and tastes, starting with the slightly chewy and tender tortellini that envelopes a delectable cheese filling. This is complemented by the flavorful ground beef, which is typically seasoned with garlic, onions, and herbs, adding a depth of taste that pairs perfectly with the creaminess of the cheese. The addition of fresh basil brings a refreshing and aromatic touch to the dish, enhancing its overall flavor profile with its sweet and slightly peppery notes. This dish is often served with a tomato-based sauce or a creamy sauce, further elevating its richness and making it a satisfying meal choice for both special occasions and everyday dining.


Ingredients:

  • 1lb ground beef

  • 3/4lb ground italian sausage

  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp dried oregano

  • 4 oz tomato paste

  • 2 jars marinara (24 oz)

  • 1/2 fresh chopped basil

  • 3 oz cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup shredded parmesan, for topping

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Start by heating pan on medium heat. Add 1tbsp of olive oil. Add onions and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes.

  2. Add ground beef and ground sausage cook until browned. Add oregano, salt, pepper and tomato paste. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Add marinara, fresh basil, water and cream cheese. Mix until fully combined, bring to a simmer and cover for 10-15 minutes.

  4. While the sauce is simmering cook your tortellini according to the package.

  5. Drain pasta, give your sauce a taste test. See if its needing additional salt and pepper. Combine sauce with tortellini, sprinkle fresh parmesan on top and serve up!
