Ingredients

Chicken Marinade

  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced horizontally and cut into 6 sandwich-sized pieces

  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Breading

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tbsp paprika

  • 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper chili flakes

Assembly

  • Brioche buns

  • Garlic butter (butter, minced garlic, parsley)

  • Romaine lettuce, chopped

  • Caesar dressing (store-bought or homemade)

  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.

Pat the chicken dry, then add it to the marinade. Let sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to a few hours for deeper flavor.

2. Prepare the Breading

In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and all seasonings.

Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess drip off, then coat thoroughly in the breading mixture. Let the coated chicken rest for 5 minutes—this helps create a crispier crust.

3. Fry the Chicken

Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry chicken pieces until golden brown and fully cooked through, about 5–7 minutes depending on thickness. Transfer to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate.

4. Make the Hot Honey Sauce

In a pan over medium heat, melt butter. Add hot sauce, honey, and red pepper flakes.

Let simmer for about 2 minutes, then remove from heat. Toss or brush the fried chicken generously with the sauce.

5. Prepare the Caesar Salad

Chop romaine lettuce and toss with Caesar dressing until evenly coated.

Optional homemade dressing:

  • 1/2 cup mayo

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 clove garlic, pressed

  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan

  • Salt and pepper to taste

6. Assemble the Sandwich

Lightly toast brioche buns in the oven.

Layer the sandwich:

  1. Bottom bun

  2. Hot honey chicken

  3. Caesar salad

  4. Extra parmesan

Top with the upper bun and brush with garlic butter for extra flavor.

Tips & Notes

  • Letting the breaded chicken rest before frying helps the coating stick better

  • Use a thermometer to keep oil at a steady 350°F for even frying

  • Adjust spice level by adding more or less chili flakes

  • Freshly grated parmesan makes a big difference in flavor

  • Don’t overdress the salad—keep it light so the sandwich doesn’t get soggy

Serving Suggestions

Serve immediately while the chicken is crispy and hot. Pair with fries, chips, or a simple side salad.

Final Thoughts

This Hot Honey Chicken Caesar Sandwich takes a classic chicken sandwich and elevates it with bold flavor and texture. The combination of crispy chicken, sweet heat, and creamy Caesar is seriously addictive.

Perfect for when you want something indulgent but still fresh and balanced.
