A Kofta Naan Wrap is a delightful fusion of flavors and textures wrapped in a soft, fluffy naan bread. The wrap centers around kofta, which are savory, spiced meatballs traditionally made from ground lamb or beef, mixed with herbs and spices like cumin, coriander, garlic, and onions. Vegetarian versions can substitute the meat with a mix of mashed potatoes, paneer (cottage cheese), or lentils, equally spiced and shaped into balls or cylinders.
This version I made homemade Tzatziki and a fresh salad as the topping. You could literally anything with this, feel creative! Try fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, or shredded lettuce.
Ingredients
Kofta:
1 lb ground beef
1 egg
1/2 yellow onion, grated and juice removed
3 gloves garlic, mince
1/2 cup chopped parsley
3 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon allspice
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Tzatziki:
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1 garlic, grated
1/2 cucumber, finely chopped
1 lemon juiced
3 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
salt to taste
salad:
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
3 small tomatoes, seeds removed and chopped
2 tablespoon green onion, chopped
1/2 cup parsely chopped
1/4 cup mint, chopped
1/4 cup olive oil
1-2 lemons juiced
salt and pepper to taste
Recipe for naan in previous post!
Directions:
Start by mixing all kofta ingredients into bowl. Mix until all ingredients combined well. If using wooden skewers soak them in water.
Wrap mixture and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Measure out about ½ cup of the kofta mixture. Now, with damp hands form it into the shape of a cylinder and then skewer it making sure to fit the ground meat cylinder tightly around the skewer.
Place on baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes flipping them halfway. Additionally you can cook on stove top on medium heat until cooked all the way through.
Mix all ingredients for tzatziki in a bowl and set aside. And then mix all ingredients for salad in a bowl and set aside. I if using homemade naan this would be a good time to cook.
Next assemble naan with all your toppings you can also serve with rice!
