Meat Lovers Stromboli

If you’re craving something cheesy, savory, and crowd-pleasing, this Meat Lovers Stromboli is it. Golden pizza dough wrapped around layers of melty cheese, garlicky butter, and classic Italian meats—this recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners, game days, or when you want comfort food that feels a little extra.

The best part? You can make it completely from scratch or save time with store-bought pizza dough—both options work beautifully.

What Is Stromboli?

Stromboli is an Italian-American favorite that’s similar to a rolled pizza. Instead of flat slices, everything is rolled up into one hearty loaf, sliced, and served warm with marinara for dipping.

Ingredients

Homemade Dough (Yields 2 Stromboli)

  • 1 ⅓ cups warm water

  • 1 packet yeast (2 ¼ tsp)

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3 ½ cups flour

Meat Lovers Filling

  • 4 Tbsp melted butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • ½ lb mixed meats (salami, pepperoni, ham)

  • 4 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella & provolone blend)

Store-Bought Dough Option

To save time, you can swap the homemade dough for:

  • 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (most brands work well)

Let it sit at room temperature for about 20–30 minutes before rolling—this makes it much easier to stretch.

Instructions

1. Make the Dough (Skip if Using Store-Bought)

In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Filling

In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Set aside.

3. Assemble the Stromboli

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Divide dough into two portions (or roll out store-bought dough).Roll each piece into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

Brush the garlic butter evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.Layer meats evenly, then top generously with shredded cheese.

Carefully roll the dough lengthwise into a log, sealing the edges and ends. Place seam-side down on a lined baking sheet.

4. Bake

Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.

Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
